Sauerkraut Season is here
We have been waiting patiently and now finally, Cabbage is at it's seasonal best, the days are cool, and the conditions are perfect for fermentation.
This is the time of year to make one of the simplest, most nourishing ferments for the year ahead.
Sauerkraut is more than a way of preserving a glut of cabbage. When cabbage is naturally fermented, it becomes a source of beneficial microorganisms, nutrients and fermentation compounds, while the fermentation process helps transform the humble vegetable into something wonderfully complex, tangy and alive.
This is a hands-on, interactive workshop where we’ll make sauerkraut together from start to finish. We’ll explore the principles of lacto-fermentation, talk about what’s happening inside the jar, what to watch out for, taste different seasonal combinations and learn how to confidently create your own ferments at home.
You’ll also receive a collection of recipes and flavour combinations to take your sauerkraut making adventures further at home.
You’ll go home with:
- 2 jars of your own handmade seasonal sauerkraut
- Tastings of various ferments
- Recipes and inspiration for your next ferments
- A deeper understanding of fermentation and why fermented vegetables are such a wonderful addition to your diet
- The confidence to keep creating at home
No previous fermentation experience needed. Just bring yourself, your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
Cabbage season is fleeting.
Come make the most of it while the conditions are just right.
